Listener’s Buffy/Angel Rewatch (A2.11)

Angel 2.11: Redefinition

  • It’s been almost a month since I’ve watched either show. This ought to be weird.
  • "What just happened?"
  • This must be a good episode. So far I haven’t commented much.
  • I wonder who does all the drawings we see “artistic” TV characters doing.
  • Training montage!
  • With bonus voiceover!
  • Hey, look, it’s Wesley’s girlfriend.
  • It’s time ALREADY? He trained, for, like, an hour. Tops. Because Wesley is still at Virginia’s.
  • I’ve always liked that Lilah is taller than Lindsey and yet the show doesn’t give him a Napoleon complex or make him bitch about somehow being “less” of a man.
  • Juliet Landau is strikingly beautiful.
  • I like the visual contrast between Dru and Darla.
  • "But surely they wouldn’t kill the both of you."
  • I’m glad this is just a sewer scene. For a moment I thought it would be a flashback.
  • I don’t know how Angel fighting four vamps at once will prepare him for Dru and Darla. Especially if it’s these four dumbasses and not vampires at the level of those two.
  • THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!
  • Ready already? It’s been less than two days. Maybe only 24 hours.
  • As Lorne walks down the street, if people hum or whistle or sing to themselves, can he read their futures? That could be pretty distracting.
  • I’m curious why Wesley is a Cat Stevens fan.
  • Nice shoes, Angel.
  • I’d hate to be the actor in the green makeup. I’d be freaked the hell out if I had to do a water-torture scene with my arms bound.

  • The first rule of Demon Fight Club is: you don’t talk about demon fight club.
  • "We’re new in town." Laaaaaaaame.
  • It’s like Dru’s having an orgasm just sensing Angel’s presence.
  • He shouldn’t be able to feel her. She was killed, turned human, and then vamped by someone else. Admittedly that someone else was one of his vampire children, but still. No.
  • Oh yeah… I remember this scene…
  • They have dog food processing plants in San Pedro? Really?
  • You can really see the ADR in the Lindsey/Lilah scene.
  • "My ass is not pansy!"
  • "Ass-pansy!"

  • That was a nicely-subtle thing that Lorne just did.
  • Let’s go. While super-drunk. Awesome.
  • Was that stake formerly a bedpost?
  • I don’t understand why Angel needed to touch the sai blade against the palm of his hand. What was the point?
  • "There’s different kinds of ‘eeeyuuchhh’?"
  • Flogging isn’t “ew”, Dru.
  • The fire is a bit of a foreshadow, now, isn’t it… but is it this episode or the next one? I can’t recall.
  • This one.
  • How did NONE of the demons from the gladiator episode end up here?
  • Found him.
  • Seriously, did you morons not stop to pick up weapons and just HOPE there’d be pieces of wood or metal laying around?
  • Stake to the brain. All righty then.
  • Dru’s hand is shaking. That’s interesting to me.
  • One would think the vamps could hear people breathing or not.
  • The cigarette thing just looked DUMB.
  • Shouldn’t Dru be able to sense that this is coming a LITTLE more concretely?
  • You can’t do that with a fire hydrant. The water pressure would blow you away.

  • No… I don’t buy that they don’t know who that was just because he did something Angel wouldn’t normally do. For such a good episode, why did they do a part that made such little sense?
  • I always liked that Lindsey just accepted his potential death, and really throughout all the W&H stuff with him, it was great characterization for him to just accept the kind of person he was.
  • "Joint Acting Co-Vice President of Special Projects". That’s a mouthful.
  • Normally, Angel’s opponents wouldn’t be as close to him as this target is.
